Petnet SmartFeeder for Stay-at-Home Pet Parents

140708 Stay at home L

Many people hear “remote feeding” or “automated feeding” and think it is only for people that aren’t at home with their pets.  However, the benefits of SmartFeeder far exceed the ability to feed remotely – it provides Feeding Insights and takes the guesswork out of portion control and nutrition management.

Improved Food Management

Based on your pet’s Petnet(io) Profile, that includes their age, current weight, desired weight, breed, and activity level, SmartFeeder develops and executes a customized feeding schedule to meet your pet’s energy requirements.  The schedule can be modified to account for your pet’s unique needs.  Whether a pet is underweight, overweight, on a special diet to address a medical issue, or healthy and happy, SmartFeeder will devise an appropriate feeding schedule to ensure that your pet is getting the right amount of the right food.

SmartFeeder utilizes a database of over 3,000 pet foods and treats which includes ingredient lists and nutritional information.  This allows SmartFeeder to:

  • Account for a pet’s caloric intake
  • Monitor the macronutrient intake of a pet and advise pet parents on gaps in their pets’ diet
  • Alert pet parents of potential allergens (as noted in the Pets’ Profile) and pet food recalls

Our sophisticated algorithms automatically find the ideal set of compatible pet food recipes based on your pet’s profile and feeding history.

Portion Sizing & Timing

As we described in our article on Portion Control, SmartFeeder has the ability to dispense servings in precise measurements as small as 1/16th of a cup and as often as required. SmartFeeder makes it really easy to spread out your pet’s meals over the course of the day.  When compared to feeding once per day, feeding  smaller amounts – multiple times a day, can help keep your pet’s blood sugar levels steady, hunger minimized, and possibly increasing their activity throughout the day.

Accurate Record Keeping

SmartFeeder will keep your pet’s feeding history, including how much food and which foods – along with their weight history.  This combined information can be useful for you and your veterinarian when reviewing your pet’s medical issues including possible food allergies.

Food Supply Management

One of the unique features of SmartFeeder is that it can alert the pet owner when they are running low on pet food.  No more unplanned trips to the pet store, right at dinner time, when you find out that the food bag is empty!  SmartFeeder users will always have an adequate supply of fresh food for their pets.

Girl with her best friend

Even if you spend the majority of your time at home, SmartFeeder can make the job of feeding your pet easier and provide tools and insights to ensure that your pet is getting the proper amounts of the right foods.
